First Annual Hillside Tiger Fun Run/Walk

We had SO MUCH FUN during our first annual Hillside Fun Run/Walk!!!!! We were celebrating inclusiveness in our school, honoring Special Olympics and dedicating three new Buddy Benches for our playgrounds.

What is a Buddy Bench? A Buddy Bench is a bench students can sit on if they are looking for someone to play with during recess. Sitting on the bench doesn't mean you don't have any friends, it just means you are looking for someone to play with. It is a great way to make sure everyone can stay involved and have fun during recess times.

Buffalo Bill visits Hillside

Fourth and fifth grade students were happy to welcome and visit with a Buffalo Bill re-enactor recently. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Buffalo Bill's birth and celebrations are happening all of Nebraska and the city of Omaha to celebrate this legendary Wild West icon. Fifth grade students viewed the Buffalo Bill performance with a keen eye as they work on discussing themes and identifying themes in literature. Fourth grade viewed the Buffalo Bill performance with an eye on Nebraska history.á
