Children’s Behavioral Health Presentations

Posted January 13, 2018 We would like to continue to remind you of a valuable collaboration in place between Westside Community Schools and Children’s Behavioral Health at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. This partnership allows us to address the mental health needs of our children and families districtwide. Hillside Geography Bee 2017

Posted January 13, 2018 A Geography Bee took place at Hillside Elementary on December 5th, and 5th grader Luke Starlin was the winner! The Hillside Bee was the first round in the 30th annual National Geographic Bee, a geography competition designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Master Todd visits Hillside

Posted December 3, 2017   Master Tomas Todd from Midwest Tae Kwon Do visited Hillside’s second, third, and fourth grades this past Monday to talk about respect and focus. Honoring Veterans

They have dedicated their lives to their country and deserve to be recognized for their commitment. Hillside had a wonderful assembly honoring our Veterans today. Celebrating Grandfriends’ Day 2017 with a Storyteller

Posted September 9, 2017 Hillside was excited to celebrate Grand-friends Day by welcoming storyteller Linda Gorham. She presented stories to students in grade 3-6 and then to students in grades K-2 (and their grand-friends too). Gorham’s brought folk tales to life as she had the students and grand-friends actively involved from reciting words to body motions. What a wonderful experience! We’ve Got Spirit…Yes We Do…We’ve Got Spirit….How About You?

Posted September 9, 2017 This year, Hillside Spirit Days will be focusing on wearing Hillside gear or orange and blue colors to promote school spirit. T-shirt order forms will be out soon. Congratulations to Jaeda Jones for winning the t-shirt drawing contest. Check out her design. Each month the most spirited classroom will win the Hillside Spirit Trophy. Mrs. Foster’s kindergarten class was our first winners!


Playground Dedication

Posted August 18, 2017 Former Husker quarterback and Heisman Award winner Eric Crouch and UnitedHealthcare donated new playground equipment for students at Hillside Elementary. Hillside students, principal Cynthia Bailey, Board of Education members Beth Morrissette and Doug Krenzer, and Superintendent Dr. Blane McCann all helped at the ribbon cutting! Westside Middle School’s Show Choir & Jazz Band

Posted May 18, 2017 What an amazing performance put on by Westside Middle School’s Show Choir and Jazz Band. 2017 Enrichment Clusters

Posted April 4, 2017 ENRICHMENT CLUSTERS An Enrichment Cluster is an interest-based academic opportunity focused on various areas of the curriculum that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and academic skill in our K-6 grade students.  After reviewing these options: 3-4 Clusters Spring 2017 and  Signs K-2 Clusters Spring 2017, the students selected their top choice.
