Playground Dedication

Playground Dedication (1)

Former Husker quarterback and Heisman Award winner Eric Crouch and UnitedHealthcare donated new playground equipment for students at Hillside Elementary. Hillside students, principal Cynthia Bailey, Board of Education members Beth Morrissette and Doug Krenzer, and Superintendent Dr. Blane McCann all helped at the ribbon cutting! Sneek a Peak and First Day of School

Bring your child up to Hillside to meet their new teacher on Thursday, August 10th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. You are more than welcome to drop off supplies at this time as well. If you can’t make it to sneak a peek night, no worries your child will be able to meet their new teacher on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 15th!

Westside Middle School’s Show Choir & Jazz Band

What an amazing performance put on by Westside Middle School’s Show Choir and Jazz Band. Enrichment Clusters

ENRICHMENT CLUSTERS An Enrichment Cluster is an interest-based academic opportunity focused on various areas of the curriculum that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and academic skill in our K-6 grade students.  After reviewing these options: 3-4 Clusters Spring 2017 and  Signs K-2 Clusters Spring 2017, the students selected their top choice. Miss Omaha Visit

Miss Omaha visited our school! She taught the students about mindfulness. The students learned how to breathe through their nose and out their mouth. After hearing the Tibetan bell, the students had to concentrate on finding peace to hear the sound all the way to the end when it became silent. The student ended this peaceful visit by repeating a mantra while touching each finger to their thumb, “Peace begins with me.” With these great…

Geography Bee

Hillside

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world.  The WCS Geography Bee was open to all students in grades 4, 5 and 6.  The students participated in a preliminary competition and the top scoring students from Hillside moved on to compete in the finals on Wednesday, December 7th.  Hillside’s school runner up is Aidan Cunningham, and the school champion…

Veterans Day Assembly! Hillside took a moment to thank the Veterans. They are thankful for their service, their sacrifice and for fighting to protect our freedom! Hillside Spelling Bee

Hillside Spelling Bee

On Wednesday, November 2, the Hillside Spelling Bee was held at Underwood Hills.  All students in grades 4-6 took a written test prior to this event to determine who would compete.
