Hillside’s Spelling Bee

posted October 31, 2019 On Wednesday, October 30th, students participated in the Hillside Spelling Bee. All students in grades 4-6 took a written test prior to this event to determine who would compete. Congratulations to Megan O., our school winner, and Ian K., who placed second in the competition. Grand-Friends Day Event

posted Sept. 10, 2019   Hillside’s Community Club got wild this year with their Grand-friend’s Day event. It was a full house! Critters Close-Up brought some amazing animals to share and teach us about. Many Hillside students and grand-friends were able to pet a young kangaroo (a joey)! Hillside Community Garden

posted March 29, 2018 Hillside is turning even greener! From recycling to composting to our new adventure in gardening. Big thanks to our Hillside families and Lowe’s for all the seed, egg cartons, and soil donations. Hillside is taking steps to be green!

Posted January 17, 2019   This year, Hillside took a few more steps to become a greener school. For many years, you could walk into a classroom and find a recycling can next to a garbage can. Thanks to the Crayola company, they have made it very easy to recycle used markers. If you have any markers at home that no longer work, please send them to the school with your child. Hillside Celebrates Veterans

Posted November 12, 2018 Today, Hillside honored Veterans. The walls were decorated in artwork thanking all veterans. The ceremony began with everybody participating in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Olynyk gathered a group of 3rd and 4th graders who did a wonderful job singing the National Anthem. Guests of honor were sat up front. Smoke Alarm at Hillside

Posted November 7, 2018 Wednesday afternoon, a staff member noticed smoke inside a bathroom at Hillside. We immediately called 911 and evacuated the school. Omaha Fire responded and students were allowed back into the building within a few minutes. We remind all parents to please dress your children appropriately for the weather each day. Our sincere thanks to the parents and volunteers who provided coats and blankets for students as they waited those few minutes outside.
